Can anyone please help. I am trying to find my lost Donegan family between 1861 and 1881. They are Dennis Donegan and Mary Ann (nee Clifford) Donegan, both of Irish origins, but married (Sept 1858, Waterloo, London) and lived in London. I find them in the 1861 UK Census living at 19 Marquis Court, St Martins in the Fields, Westminster, London. They disappear from the 1871 UK census to reappear in the UK1881 census living at 21 Gledhill Street, Salford, Lancashire, with a son that was born in America about 1865/66 believed to be New York City. My request is when did they leave England? Where and when was the son born, and when did they return to England?
Additional information Dennis Donegan - born 1834, City of Cork, Ireland Occupation - Compositor Date of Death - 16 Jan 1908, Salford, Lancashire
Mary Ann (nee Clifford) Donegan- born abt 1836/1840, Tralee, Co Kerry, Ireland Date of Death - Qtr Dec 1911, Salford, Lancashire
Male Donegan (Son) Appears in the UK 1881 Census as Dennis Donegan Was also known as William Clifford Donegan Occupation - Printers compositor Place of birth - Believed to be New York City, America He appears in subsequent UK censuses as William Donegan He died in 1943 Salford, Lancashire.
I have searched both Outbound and Inbound ships lists without finding any of them.
Have also searched American BMD and Census sites.
As usual I have seen many different spellings for the Surname of Donegan which does not help matters.
Any help would be greatly appreciated
Regards Stuart .

Have you looked at familysearch?

I don't have high enough membership to look at records, but specifying rough birth years (1841 & 1865 respectively) these pop up? Have you checked them out?

I assume this is them 1881? Might sound a bit strange, but could the Dennis in the 1871 below be him - in both cases occupation is printer's compositor??
Might be thinking a bit too laterally tho! Esther ('Estha') appears alone 1881, married.

Hi Reggie and Jan I have looked in FamilySearch - Somewhat fragmented and difficult to to be absolutely certain as to who is who.
I will look at again at incomming passenger lists, however my understanding is that they actually only start at 1880, despite stating 1878 as the starting point.

Hi Jan, Thanks. There are quite a few Dennis Donegans. However Ester does not figure i any of my research so far. Mary Donegan is the name given on his death certificate in 1908, so presume they were married up to his death.

Hi Jan I think the ship arrival at Liverpool in 1912 is outside the possibilities as they were back in England by 1881 !!

Still looking for this family in the USA 1861 - 1881. They seem to be very elusive and are not visible on the USA 1870 census.
Any help much appreciated
