Thanks all, I think we have solved this one. Will probably send for certs in near future.

This looks like the birth reg for the Alfred b1890 - the only way to confirm would be to buy the cert:

Its possible he was born on 19th June 1890 but the two Alfreds on the baptism and 1891 census are both at 13 Felton Street. If indeed that is his death in Sep 1891 that would account for the dead child on the 1911 census.

I think the baptism and the 1891 census are 2 different Alfreds. The baptism was 25 July, 1891 and birthdate was 19 June but the 91 census was taken 5 April, before he was born.

Edit: Oops! It has to be the same one, father is a brass finisher and address is the same. Birthdate must have been the previous year, 19 June 1890. ( it didn't say so.)

A possible death:

The 1911 census says that the family had 10 children, 9 living, 1 died.

Given that this is a common name, there is this death of the correct age and place.

You would need the cert to check if correct.

Do you have his birth cert to confirm his YOB. He is 9 months old on the 1891 census, so was born 1890 not 91. The DOB on the baptism does not give a year.

Can anyone help with information about our grand uncle, Alfred Martin who was born at 13 Felton Street, Hoxton, London on 19th June 1891. We have his baptism record showing he was born to parents William and Emma Martin.

He appears as an infant at the same address in the 1891 census but we have been unable to find anything else on him after that.
