Hi Dave.
Have you located his birth on Freebmd?

http://www.freebmd.org.uk/cgi/search.pl

The marriage is on there also, and you can see he has middle initial J which will narrow it down.
If you are unable to do so, I suggest you get his marriage cert to check his father's name.

Had a look - this must be him:

Births Sep 1943 (54%)
Essex John J Penfold Lambeth 1d 172

Now you can look for siblings using mother's maiden name and also an Essex/Penfold marriage.

Is this person still living or has he died after 2006/7 which are the last years on line?
What is your connection to the person?

His marriage certificate would name his father if it was known.
The BC would give the names of both parents, plus of course his dob. There is an outside chance that they are also still alive

If you buy the birth cert it will tell you all you wish to know

We have to be careful about passing on info re living people................

Hello All

First of all , THANK YOU , especialy brummiejan,

Far as I know , he is still alive , I am doing a full extended family tree for ALL the grandchildren , .
He was my wifes first husband , divorced ,.

She cannot find any info on his parents , but looked at this and , yes , Penfold is correct . all she knows .

Thank you again , Dave :-) <3

http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/certificates/

The only place to buy certificates at £9.25 inc P&P.

Are you able to ask him for his d.o.b? If not, then you are going to have to buy his BC and also his parents MC to be confident in tracing back to census.

I usually advise certs too, but not sure if you need them in this case - at least not for his birth and parents' marriage. There is only one possibility for each on Freebmd. Especially as the Penfold name rings a bell, and isn't too common.
