The surname may also have been spelt as Downie. Would anyone have any information on the above people. They would have been born 1800 - 1810ish. They had a daughter also named Mary Ann who was born in Portsmouth, Hampshire in 1864. Mary Ann went to Australia sometime before 1851. I don't know whether her parents went as well

I have searched through Ancestry and Genes. My best match on an 1841 census is a record from Northumberland. I was given handwritten details on the Downeys many years ago. I am not sure how accurate these details were about the birth place. The year of birth and the parents names match an Australian death record. I have no idea if any one can shed any light on this for me.
