Hi, wondered if any one could find Henry's birth record ?

~I have been searching for years but cann't find him

What i know ... he was married 1877 to Maria Sison his father is listed as John Atkinson [ coal miner ]
Henry and Maria appear on 1881 ,1891,1901 he died 9.3.1904 on his death certificate he is 47
On 1881 census there is a John Atkinson living a few doors away 37 Rawson St, Basford but i can find nothing to link him.
I can find no birth record, or find him on 1861/ 1871 records

There is a birth 1858 Radford but this Henry was married to a Millicent so not that record, I have also looked in Derbyshire as his mother Maria was from Ilkeston, she listed her dad as Edwin, but was actually Abraham, so is John correct?

Henry appears to have a brother Thomas b1859, they were witnesses at each others wedding, Thomas also lists dad as John

Can anyone find him ?? he is the only member of the family i can get no further back
Thank you
Serena

Bit of a long shot, but have you considered this? However, you say his mother was Maria - how do you know? Or do you mean his wife?

It would mean he was born George Henry though!!

Hi,
I'm sure the Henry who married Millicent is the one registered in Radford. He lists him self as born in Lenton which is next to Radford
So if My Henry was born George Henry that would make his brother John Thomas b 1859 ?
John snr was married to Emma White, [ this was her 1st married name ,] Thomas was married to Fanny White ,maybe related

Maybe that's right although Henry always lists himself born 1858,
I will have to order the birth certificates but still not sure that would confirm it's the right person. Many men were coal miners at that time !

Wendy thank you for that info
Are the christenings at St Leodegarius ??

The dates all match the details on the census, 1851,1861,FWK silkgloves, 1871 labourer and 1881 coal miner
Looks like this is the family i am looking for
I still wonder why Henry states birth as 1858, 3 years different , and why no mention of the name George

Next step order birth certificates
Thank you

Hi Serena,

Yes they was at St Leodegarius. Often year of birth on census is out by a year or 2. Maybe he didn't like he name George.

Until 1875, there were no penalties for not registering births...............which meant that many births were simply not recorded.
