Please can anyone help with the above person. This is my 3x grandfather and I have been unable to find his birth in Clutton. I have his marriage certificate his father is James. He married Martha Thomas in Trevethine in 1854. They had 5 children James 1859, George 1860, Esther 1865, William 1868 and Amos 1870. Anything at the moment will be appreciated. |

As civil registration didn't start until 1837, you are reliant on PR. |

Thank you both for your input. John,s father James was a collier. The marriage is Martha Thomas 19th March 1854, Trevethine, Monmouthshire. John was also a collier on the marriage certificate. I have checked Somerset PR,s online and there is a gap from 1812 to the late 1800,s for Clutton for some reason. I did find a baptism for James 1806 it,s just to fill that missing gap to John. I know there was an influx of miners into Pontypool as most of my fore fathers were miners at the local "pits". |
