many thanks, appears to be him. have searched for children born to those names and have found nothing so far, could be that since he left his effects to clara - he had no children.

Flip Report 4 Aug 2013 07:46

Have you considered Button may not be her maiden name? Bearing in mind Fred would have been 35 when they married if she was a similar age she could have been married previously.

The probate record only shows who was granted leave to distribute his effects, only a copy of the will (if there was one) would show who the beneficiaries were.

Old ER's are held at the main public library for the area............and at the County Records Office

They are searchable ONLY by address

Flip

Flip Report 4 Aug 2013 08:15

ERs are not generally on line prior to 2002, you would need to visit the main library or records office near to the address - and you can only search by address they are not indexed by name.

Contact the Cornwall records office, they may be able to do a lookup for you.

The address given on the probate record found by Margee was 8 Riversdale, Wadebridge.

Added: Looks like you're getting as many error messages as I am Reggie! What a pain the system is today.

Flip

Flip Report 4 Aug 2013 08:24

I wonder, if she was born Button as posted by Reggie and they didn't have any children then this may be her death:

Clara Blake
Birth Date: 1890
Date of Registration: Dec 1977
Age at Death: 87
Registration District: Falmouth
Inferred County: Cornwall
Volume: 21
Page: 0210

The informant may not have known her middle name and her full date of birth would normally appear on records by 1977 - so it was obviously not known either

Oh yes, Flip, the 'error' function is in full flow today.......it's the one bit of GR that seems to be OK!!!!!!!
