Fairly certain that I checked on SP years ago but will take another look.

Have been looking at this for the last 6 years on and off and got nowhere with it.

With the name Campbell Is there a possibility his family could have been scottish? It may be worth a look at Scotland's People.

On 3rd August 1946 my great aunt Sally (Sarah Ann) married for the third time. I have all the information on Sarah such as census, birth and marriage certs but can not afford at the moment to get her death cert from 1973 to see who was the informant. Sally died when I was 20 years of age and have no recollection of seeing her with a husband.

Name: John J G Campbell
Spouse Surname: Donovan (Sarah Ann)
Date of Registration: Jul-Aug-Sep 1946
Registration District: St Olave Bermondsey
Inferred County: London
Volume Number: 5c
Page Number: 241

John James George Campbell, age 60, widower, merchant seaman. Father given as Marcellous Campbell, deceased, occupation of farmer.

One witness to the marriage is the daughter of Sarah and have no idea who the other - just given as Mrs F Biggs - is or if actually related.

I have never been able to find a birth, previous marriage or death for John Campbell. The name of his father does not sound English and wondered if it could be Canadian.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Maureen
