William, Mary and Jane appear on Page 37. Looks as though his occupation is Hemp and Flax Dresser.
Allane looks more like Mary

Thank you all so much. I have been trying to find Ann Taylor (b abt 1858 in Surrey) daughter of William Taylor - Hawker. Hawker comes from her marriage to Stephen Welling also a Hawker in 1879
I think I was actually hoping to see Horse dealer or something like it.
Ann died in 1884 so info is really hard to find

Thanks again

KathleenBell Report 2 Aug 2013 18:38

People often changed occupation between census years and especially when they got older even those with a skilled job often took more menial jobs so this William could still be the right one.

Are the witnesses on the marriage certificate any help in finding the right family?

Gwyn in Kent

Gwyn in Kent Report 2 Aug 2013 18:56

Witnesses to the marriage appear to be.........

William Couch

and George Reuben Bird

Chris from Kent

Chris from Kent Report 2 Aug 2013 18:56

Witnesses were William Couch and George Rueben Bird the second also a hawker

KathleenBell

KathleenBell Report 2 Aug 2013 21:05

George Reuben Bird appears to be in Greenwich in the 1871 and 1881 census. There is also a William Couch in the same parish.

I wonder if Ann is somewhere in the same vicinity although I can't find her at the moment?
