Find Ancestors

Trying to find a marriage for Joseph Woolhouse chr.2 April 1756 Ecclesfield.
His first child Thomas was chr. 7 March 1777 in Ecclesfield and his second born John Woolhouse was chr. 18 August 1778 both in Ecclesfield.

The marriage would be before this date.

There are so many Joseph Woolhouse marriages but I haven't found a suitable marriage to fit in with these two children.

Unless you can discover the forename of the mother of the children, your chances of identifying the marriage must be slim..............

Are you 100% certain that the boys were siblings?

If there are several John Woolhouses, how do you know yours was born 1756?

The only info I can find is from someone's tree ( not official data)

and there is no Thomas or John listed among their children.

I know it is difficult to find a marriage without the spouses name but a lot of the records about this time do not give the wife's name on the baptisms and so we have to find other ways. Thankyou for your reply.

I think you have misread my posting, it is the wife of Joseph Woolhouse I am trying to find.
I have a list of 10 children of Joseph starting with Thomas in 1777.
There is no mention of the name of Joseph's wife on the baptism records.
I am hoping that someone has found his wife from other sources.

I have looked at other family trees with the wife named as Hannah Milner and Mary Howe but unless Joseph remarried after his first two children this cannot be correct unless these two were born out of wedlock
These two children, Thomas b.1777 and John b.1778 were before the marriages recorded as 1781 and 1782.
It is most unlikely but the thought has occurred to me Joseph never married but this is highly unlikely.

Have you established first of all which Thomas is yours ?

Is this him in 1841 ?
He's in a hospital ( or working and living there)
occupation - under gardener.
Note he was not born in county
