Just a word of advice if you are thinking at the moment of applying for records.
I sent a request in June for my Father's WW11 service and and have just had a letter saying that due to a very high volume of urgent welfare requests on behalf of former soldiers, the wait may now be nine to 12 months.

Hi Cassie - that seems to be about the norm

Unfortunately the wait has got longer but the Army deal with helping the living soldiers or ex soldiers first which is understandable.

Records have arrived and thankfully seem to have been written up at the time by personnel with clear writing! Now need to try and see how my dad's service fits with the campaign in Burma.
