Hi,
Thank you for your enquiry regarding James Williams.As far as I can find out James is buried in the Symond Street Cemetery in plot B425,and you are correct the marriage was in Auckland.Yes I do live in Wattle Cove Manurewa Auckland NZ

James & Arabella were married in New Zealand in 1857, not South Australia! Just a typo?

Do you have full certs of James's death, along with both marriage certificates?

Do you know where James is buried?

I'm doing the research for my partner, who is descended from James & Arabella, but your information is the nearest I've come to finding anything that looks logical, given some trees have children born to them, in the same year of Arabella's birth! LOL.

Would love to know more, as my usual methods of research are falling flat, and this is starting to be my last resort... (if you know what I mean).

Do you live in NZ?

Sorry there is no father or mother noted on his marriage or death certs

Help required to find James Williams parents and family in England.
James was born in London about 1808 and died in Auckland New Zealand 1 Jan 1884.James served 7 years with Curling, Cox and Co the great ship builders of Rotherhithe London.James arrived in Australia sometime in the 1820-30 as a free protestant carpenter.He worked as a carpenter for Thos Street Sydney NSW this company also had a number of whaling ships.
In 1935/6 he arrived on board the 'New Zealander' at Cloudy Bay whaling station South Island New Zealand as a carpenter. He also owned and operated a schooner 'Jane' trading between Nelson and Wellington. In August 1844 he sailed with his family on the Cutter 'Pickwick to Kangaroo Island South Australia. Sometime in 1858 he and the family arrived back in New Zealand.
James married Jane Florance on the 4 July 1840 Petone New Zealand. Jane was born in Brixton England 1819 died 1856 Auckland New Zealand. James then married Arabella Florance in Adelaide South Australia 11 April 1857. Arabella was born in New Zealand 1835 died in Auckland New Zealand 1906.Thank you for any help.
