I am seeking information on John Dempsey, superintendent of prisions on Mauritius circa 1864 to 1882, and his wife Elizabeth Jessie Grant Fowler, my great grandmother's parents. Both of them were deceased by 1882 when my great grandmother Susan Monica Dempsey was married in Port Louis, Mauritius to James Bindon Stuart a sailing master. I have no records as to where John or Elizabeth were born, married or when John was posted to Maruitius

If you have Susan's marriage certificate you should know how old she was, and therefore her date of birth.
Does the cert. give any info that may be relevant?

Catherine, Susan Monica Dempsey was born in 1864. She was married in 1882 by which date both of her parents John and Elizabeth were deceased. I think the birth year of 1839 is reasonable because by 1879, Elizabeth would have been 40-ish. Thank you for your help I will research this some more.
