I'm assuming that you have already looked in 'search all trees' and not had any luck

In your first post you wonder IF they had children............in your later one you say that they did.............what is the source of that info?

I found that Archibald and Henrietta had 3 children and while in Belfast Groni tracing family Im not sure if the Henrietta McKinley that died in 1921 is my ancestor as I ran out of time to check the cert and was travel back to England on the Saturday.

I would like to know how I could find out if this is my relation because the records aren't on line yet.

Thank you

any chance he emigrated ??

an Archibald McKinley born 16 April 1881 in Belfast (who would match the 1911 census that Reggie posted and the age of the Henrietta who died in 1921) died in Detroit Michigan in 1937

but really it is the Henrietta 1921 death certificate you need to see, you do seem to keep running out of time ! why not just order it ?

if you found they had three children can you say the names, as they would be deceased by now and this could help with finding information ? ah I see they are in your tree, Henrietta and Archibald for two.

JoonieCloonie

JoonieCloonie Report 19 Jan 2014 03:31

you really should do some searches to get all the information you can about all the people's names and dates that could help ... the 1901 Irish census for instance

http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1901/Antrim/Whitehouse/Upper_Whitehouse_Street/988469/

Residents of a house 37 in Upper Whitehouse Street (Whitehouse, Antrim)
> Mc Kinley Agnes 35 Daughter
Scott Eliza 65 Head of Family
> Mc Kinley Archibald 25 Son in Law
(ages all very rounded)

so if this was the right Archibald then his first wife was named Scott as well, perhaps Henrietta was a sister ?

or a cousin or niece, this looks like her in 1901

http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1901/Antrim/Whitehouse/Upper_Whitehouse_Street/988525/

Residents of a house 96 in Upper Whitehouse Street (Whitehouse, Antrim)
Scott Samuel 42 Head of Family
Scott Eliza M 50 Wife
> Scott Henrietta 19 Daughter
Scott Mary J 11 Daughter
Scott John 13 Son
Scott Samuel 15 Son

and here she is in 1911

Thank you for your help. I am grateful. The Scott and Allison family are mine and Henrietta was my ggran sister in the 1901 and 1911 census.

Everytime I get to Belfast Groni while visitng Belfast I write all the people in my tree I want to look up and find certificate and then I get lost in all the people I find then the time runs out by the time I get to Henrietta and a few others.

I noticed on the 1901 census that there is two Scott family nearly the same names etc they live at wellington st or place but it is Samuel eliza Henriet and I am wondering if these are connected.

I will look into Archibald leaving after Henrietta dies to see if this is my relation.

Thank you ago :-)

ah so we have all the right people then !

After losing two wives and having quite few kids ... at least 3 in first marriage and 3 in second ... and especially if first wife Agnes and second wife Henrietta were related ... it is imaginable that he left them with family and emigrated, if times were hard maybe ...

but not with the Allisons I guess !

I don't agree that Archibald and Annie on the 1930 US census married in the US.

On his arrival in Boston in 1923 he gives his nok in Scotland as his wife Annie in Aberdeen.

JoonieCloonie

JoonieCloonie Report 19 Jan 2014 17:33

good, I did not have access to the full record and it did not occur to me that they had emigrated separately but already married

it is a long shot in event but when searching for the disappeared all possibilities need to be considered :-)

There was one marriage in Scotland http://www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk for the name Archibald McKinley 1895 to 1923 but not to an Annie or any name starting with A ... it was in 1908. But I don't see an Archibald McKinley in the 1901 census there. In 1911 scotlandspeople shows no Archibald McKinley aged 27-33.

in 1940 Ann McKinley is a widow living in Detroit with a lodger

if the father of Archibald McKinley who married Henrietta Scott could be determined ... from their marriage certificate ? ... that Archie in Michigan could be ruled in or out since his parents were Samuel McKinley and Agnes Bell.

Using 1 credit on Scotland's People fetches up this marriage:

No Year Surname (M) Forename (M) Surname (F) Forename (F) District/City/County/MR GROS Data Image Extract

1 1908 MCKINLEY ARCHIBALD MUNRO ANN THOM WOODSIDE ABERDEEN CITY/ABERDEEN 168/03 0034

EDIT: I think Ann Thom Munro begins with an "A" ;-) (sorry!)

Woodside was the district of Aberdeen given for the still in Scotland wife on the 1923 passenger list.

If this is the same man who is also supposed to have married Henrietta Scott in Belfast in 1915 then he had a very busy double life.

The Archibald on the 1901 & 1911 Irish census is a labourer. The Archibald going to US was a millworker machine man on the passenger list and a janitor on the 1930 census. He and his wife made a return trip in 1928 her full name given as Anne Thom McKinley - he again a mill worker.

The Archibald in America is pretty consistent with his age (born 1881/1882) and stated on the 1930 census that he could read and write.

The Archibald on both Irish census said he couldn't read - he made his mark on the 1911 census. His age varies quite a bit aged 40 in 1911 and 25 in 1901.

JoonieCloonie

JoonieCloonie Report 19 Jan 2014 17:55

this is that family in 1901

http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1901/Antrim/Woodvale_Ward/Sixth_Street/1007615/

Residents of a house 17 in Sixth Street (Woodvale Ward, Antrim)

McKinley Samuel 40 Head of Family
McKinley Agnes 40 Wife
McKinley Eliza Jane 9 Daughter
McKinley Annie 3 Daughter
McKinley Samuel 40 Head of Family
McKinley John 11 Son
McKinley Samuel 15 Son
> McKinley Archibald 18 Son
McKinley Joseph 5 Son
McKinley Henery 13 Son

so .................... not our Archibald it seems, since it seems our Archibald was married to Agnes Scott already in 1901 :-(

so where is our Archibald's birth record ........ and marriage to Agnes Scott ? She was older, perhaps widowed when married ... but the only marriages for name Archibald McKinley in the time period are two in 1906.

Well, one married Mary Agnes Bowman
https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/FY8B-W6B
https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/FYDS-YZ3

and whoever the other one married
https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/FY8B-TQQ
it was not one of the couple of dozen Agneses who married in that quarter :-)

ah we cross posted and I could have saved myself that time :-D

I don't know why sp informed me that the Archie in question did not marry a Ms 'A'.

... except that I now see I put 'A' as the first letter of her surname (where is that red cheeked facey thing)

so all ruled out, he was Archibald son of Samuel and Agnes who married in 1908 in Scotland

(of course it isn't 'the same man', the idea was to try to rule him in or out)

at least we now know that Samuel and Agnes are not the parents of our Archie !
