Not sure, as son Edward is no where to be seen...

Edward is definitely my great, great grandfather

Because the records say that the grave was not a private grave may just mean that the family did not actually purchase the plot - not that he was in a communal grave. A grave only becomes "private" if the family pay for the plot and then continue to pay for it every so many years (in some cases every 25 years and in others every 50 years). If the family stop paying after so long then the grave stops being "private" - or at least that's my understanding of how it works.

This looks like the death record:-

Name: TUCKER, John
Registration district: South Molton
County: Devon
Year of registration: 1889
Quarter of registration: Jul-Aug-Sep
Age at death: 87
Volume no: 5B
Page no: 289

I have a memorium card for John Tucker, who is a relative.
he is interred in South Molton Cemetery. According to their records this was not a private grave, so the memorium card is a bit confusing as if they could afford this, would there not have been a private grave. John may have been my great, great grandfather

I now that Edward Tucker was my Great, great grandfather, who to was born in Devon.

who inturn was the father to Charles Tucker who was a shoe maker who lived in Bristol.

any ideas on John Tucker please
