Hi All

In the 1851 census
at 22 Chapel St St Margarets Westminster. I have
William Norman Widower age 52, a Cordwainer Born Surrey Tooting
William Norman Son age 20, a cordwainer, Westminster
James Norman Son 18 a cordwainer Soho
Caroline Norman Westminster age 5 .

William remarried a Mary Grove Jessup on 30 Aug 1849 St Margarets Westminster
and Caroline was their daughter (have Birth Cert and Marriage cert,

On William and Mary Jessups marriage cert william is a widower.
his previous wife may have been Mary Anne Laws married 17Dec1832 St Anne Soho,

What I am trying to find out is where William with family were living in the 1841 Cencus. Was william a Widower then or was his wife Mary Ann alive.
(On the marriage certificate of William and Mary Jessup. Williams states his father to be William and a Servant)

Can anyone help please.

Thanks for your effort.
Do you have an address for them on the 1841 census. And is this the earliest census?

The writing is dreadful. but on the previous image it looks like New Gothill Street, but I'm not sure.

1841 is the earliest census available online. You could try trade directories as he was a shoemaker.

EDIT it is New Tothill street, according to the summary page.
