	maddie you have found the same record's as me, he is on all census record's from 1841--1901. as I posted earlier in 1901 he is a inmate,i assume it mean's the workhouse.

	mary whom he married in 1852 is not on the 1861 census ,john is down as a widower?

	William, what is it that you want to know ? the posting by maddie for the 1851 census is the same one I came across, is there something specific that you need.

Member Since: January 2004 Posts: 846 Send Message	Many thanks for your replies.I just thought I'd learn even more about the family from the 1851 Census.I have to say though I knew next to nothing about the family before today.It is some descendants of the Jane showing in 1861 who are in my Tree,namely from her son John born in 1875 shortly before her marriage to George Pickerill.Jane actually is the only proven child of the Shenton/Sherratt marriage.Both the Thomas and John were born as Sherratt.Mary could very well be the death showing in the Stoke-on-Trent District in 1856. The Trees that are showing on Ancestry with John born in 1828 marrying an Alice are wrong.If you look at the entry posted they have of the John with Alice in 1901,the John is shown as still single!
