Trying to find a burial site.

My ggg grandfather George James Neave died at Hollyville, North Finchley, Uk on 11th January, 1887. I have been trying for sometime to locate where he is buried. His death certificate (as some of you would know) does not provide this information.
The closest Cemetery to North Finchley (as I assume they did not transport bodies to far in 1887) want a donation of forty pounds before they will even look at their records. If I was sure of a positive result I would not mind paying, but paying and then have them provide a negative result does not thrill me greatly. By the time you repeat this process for the number of cemeteries near Finchley by bank account would be suffering, so I thought I would try and see if anyone could provide me with some viable and less costly alternative. Thanks in advance. Phillip Neave.

Have you contacted the other cemeteries to ascertain whether they actually require payment?

Have you looked at the NBI site?

I've checked on FMP..............no record.

Thanks for your reply Reggie. I have not really checked the other cemeteries. I live in Australia and assumed that it was probably normal for all cemeteries in the uk to charge. I have not looked at the NBI site. I assume that stands for the National Burial Index. thanks I will try and find the site.
regards
Phillip

Had a look in the newspaper archives in case there was an obituary but nothing.

Did find an article where a George James Neave was a witness in a court case so have sent it to Philip.
