Marriage David Dobson and Ann (Annie) Ferrier

Hi Potty,

The name is definitely Ferrier on the Birth Cert, but I have had problems researching Annie due to the name sometimes being transcribed as Farrier and then Ferrier.

1871 Annie gives POB as Barnstaple, Devon and in 1901 as South Moulton, Devon; YOB 1844/45. Could the name on the birth certs be Farrier, as this is the
nearest birth coming up;

Just a thought but would a marriage by a ship's Captain legal at that time i.e.1860's.

Thanks Ann but I have the Dobson family from 1799 Scotland down to when a member of the family married a uncle of mine in berkshire 1932, it's just this lost marriage that's bugging me.

Yes I have a copy of that one but it's the wrong David Dobson He married a Catherine Logue.

Possible match for Dobson 1860-1867 in South Africa but not getting a match using the female surname

Trying to find the marriage of David Dobson born abt 1832 Edinburgh and Ann (Annie) Ferrier born abt 1845 Devon.

Maybe a military marriage David served with the Royal Engineers From 1856 to 1879 sometime in South Africa, no census after 1851 Edinburgh until 1871 Dover his return from South Africa with Annie and son William born at sea 1866 Birth Certs. for children born after 1866 gives parents David Dobson and Annie Dobson previous Ferrier.
