it has been very interesting finding out about my great grandfather and his family,we know his proffesion was a brass finisher and he lived in a number of locations in the north and east of london, occasionally moving south of the river looking for work,if anyone has any information about brass finishing companys in north and east london or anywhere that would hold any records of employees in the early part of the late 1800s early 1900s we would be very interested many thanks Stephen Marden

Stephen
I told you on your other thread that your chances of a member of your family unit "just passing by" and seeing your questions are very slim
There are over 11 million members of GR (possibly over 12 million, by now).
A very small fraction of those ever look at the Community Boards or use the Search facility ...... I personally think 1000 looking and using the Boards would be a generous estimate.
Thus ................. YOU have to do the searching yourself.
As I said on your other thread ...................
go to Search in the top right of your screen.
Click on Search
Click on Search All Trees in the drop down box
Enter one of your names in the Search Box, and click Submit
Hopefully, there will be at least 1 tree with that name.
THEN, you have to send a message asking the tree owner if there is any connection between you ....... explain very carefully and lclearly how and why you think there is a connection.
Remember ............ many people do not, and will not, respond to the automatic "Please share your tree with me" request. Be sure to turn that off before sending your message.

That death could be a good fit Stephen
London, England, Electoral Registers, 1832-1965 Name: Emma Martin Year: 1930 County or Borough: Haringey Ward or Division/Constituency: Tottenham South Street Address: 15 Seaford Road
Just Emma with Katherine Amelia Fletcher (who I guess is the Amelia Fletcher from the earlier ER).
EDIT: William is still with them on the 1929 ER, but I guess it depends on when the info was compiled.
You'd really need to check more death records to be sure and perhaps get a certificate for verification.

Thanks Marie Celeste,
I was just hoping that others of the family tree branches might be members also searching here. I've now found a couple of matches in Search All Trees and sent messages. it also looks like William Martin's death is registered at Wandsworth in 1928, according to the BMD registers.

Stephen, just to clarify how the boards work (I think it may already have been mentioned). None of us who post information on these boards are connected to the families of the people who we are helping (or if we ever are, it's just a huge coincidence).
If you want to connect with people who share the family members then you need to use "Search All Trees" - it's under Search on the menu above. If you find any matches then send a message to the member stating what the connection is.
You need to do some more research yourself using BMD records and following them up on the census. Granted, that's a bit more difficult post 1911 so finding death records and working back from them can help.

Thanks for the help so far, much appreciated.
Great news to find who was still living at 15 Seaford Road after our grandfather (William Marden) moved there in 1924. So, we have now established that William Martin (senior) was still alive in 1928, as was Emma.
William junior (Marden) and his wife Ellen, together with their children, moved to 105 Devonshire Hil Lane in 1927. We know all about him and his family from then onwards but we are mostly interested in his brothers and sisters.
We do know that Esther died in Romford in 1974 but nothing much of the other siblings. Are there any other branches of the Martin family out there who can throw more light on our grand aunts and uncles?

I’m researching the family of my great grandparents William Martin (1847) and Emma Reader (1851) and have the following children listed:
Francis and James, both born 1876 (were they twins?), Emma (1877), Charles (1879), William (1881), George (1883), Walter (1886), Henry (1888), John (1893) and Esther (1896).
We know all about William junior who is our grandfather. He joined the army in 1898 and changed his name to Marden when the family was living at 13 Felton Street, Hoxton. We have his army records confirming this, and also the fact that he returned to the later family address at 15 Seaford Road, Tottenham, when he left the army in 1924.
We would be very interested to know any details of William senior's children who were the brothers and sisters of our granddad, and also to know which members of the family (if any) were still living in Seaford Road when he moved there in 1924. William senior was recorded there with wife Emma, Walter, John and Esther in the 1911 census.
