That's really strange Shirley that you have found a death of a girl with the middle name Elsie.

I have three photographs of my grandmother's half sisters.

One has Grace written on the back, one Maud Mary and the other - which I would have expected to say Gladys - actually says Elsie, which has always confused me.

Yes, Sarah died in 1908. I have all the census details thanks.

I know Maud Mary Scott married Walter Nightingale and they had one son called Walter, who married but had no children.

Not sure about Gladys.

I think I will have to leave this until I can buy some certificates.

Thanks Shirley for the death of Samuel Scott. I don't have the death certificate but I think it was more likely that one of his other daughters - Maud Mary - registered his death as I know she stayed close to the family and she was the one who registered my great grandmother's death (the one you posted for Mary Maria Scott in 1915).

I may buy Samuel's death certificate when funds allow just in case it happened to be Grace.

Thanks for the replies. I'm afraid I don't know her exact date of birth - just that she was registered in the first quarter of 1894. She is one of my grandmother's half sisters (my grandmother was born out of wedlock before her mother's marriage and before the birth of her 4 half sisters).

I have the details from the outbound passenger list. I'm pretty sure that you are right Shirley and Charles and Minnie Scott have no connection to her.

I have a photo of her with the details of her outward journey on the "Regina" in 1925 written on the back. I just can't seem to find anything else about what happened to her after 1928. I've only just started looking at my own family tree again after a break of about 4 or 5 years even though I come onto Genes most days for a short while.

I'll have to look into electoral registers over here - but thought that she might be the relative that my mother told me was in Canada.

Thanks again.

Thanks Margee

To be honest I'd forgotten I had a previous thread about Grace (brain cells are disappearing very rapidly, lol).

I have no idea who this brother-in-law is as as far as I'm aware none of her sisters married someone called Leslie or went to Canada.

I went to your previous thread to get more info:

http://www.genesreunited.co.uk/boards/board/ancestors/thread/1268378

On her arrival in Canada in 1925 she was going to join brother-in-law Thomas eslie? (a letter seems to be missing from his surname Leslie?) 458 McKay St., Montreal.

I have an ancestor GRACE LIZZIE SCOTT born Lincolnshire 1893/1894 who went to Canada in 1925 and returned to England in 1928 (I have the emigration records for these journeys from Findmypast).

I can't find a marriage or a death for her in England (have bought one marriage certificate but it was not her) and I have a vague memory of my mother telling me she had a relative in Canada so I wondered if Grace went back to Canada.

Could anyone with access to Canadian electoral rolls/census records please see if they can find her? When she first went out she went to Montreal and described herself as a dressmaker on the way there and a designer on the way back.

Thanks in advance. I have to leave the computer now but will check back later today.
