Trying to find a last address for a Ruby Mary A Groom d.o.b. 1894 died Jan- Feb 1981 known to be living in Bristol. My grandmother ( mums mum) her maiden name was Fisher. Married my grandfather in 1919, but think she may have left the marital home when my mother was only young. My mum had been told her mother had died. Please can anyone help? I don't think there are any divorce records, and my grandfather didn't marry again. :-( |

Her last known address should be on the death certificate:- |

Thank you for the reply. Is there any way I can get this info without having to buy a death certificate. I have just sent off for a copy of my mother's birth cert, as my sister who holds on to my mums paperwork, is unable to read the original, as its very old and a bit tatty and the ink has faded really badly. I am hunted by the fact that my mum grew up not knowing who her mother was, believing she had died when she was young. My sisters were shocked when I told them I had found out mums mum had died when she was 86, in 1981. I feel so sad. :-( |

Thanks for the posts. I just don't want to keep sending off for endless documentation, and not be any nearer to finding out what really happened between family members. Maybe I will never find out the truth. Jude thank you for your post, that is a bit how I feel. When my mum was in hospital nearing the end of her like, my sister's and I took it in turns to stay all night at mums bedside. Mum drifted in and out of sleep, when I was with her, she woke up in the early hours, and said just out of the blue, "Is that you mummy". I was a bit shocked, she didn't have dementia or any think like that. I just cuddled her, and told her I loved her. Its only now that I think how she must have thought about her own mother all those years, not even knowing she was still alive. Mum died two days later on my birthday. I feel I need to find out what really happened. |
