that's interesting-Thomas Archibald capner had 3 children to Alice Gregory -early 1900's but did not marry her until 1922-so he didn't die but had a 2nd family? Its a mystery-whether she thought he had died or was trying to cover up what happened

I guess one can put what one likes on a census and yes she could have been trying to save face.

According to the Nat archives website Mary Janet Capner divorced Thomas Archibald in 1921, hence he was then free to re-marry - so was she:

Well, good on Mary Jane I say!

Have sent a couple of newspaper articles to Harbour about Thomas Capner. They relate to his boats. One is about a licence and the other is where a lady unsuccessfully tried to sue him for £10 when the staging to one of his boats collapsed and she got her clothes wet.
