Would anyone have in their family tree Thomas Melling c1817 who married Nancy Hindle/Swindlehurst in 1838 and died later that year. I believe his father to be Henry Melling, fisherman and mother Jane Ward. He also had a brother Geoe Ward c1811 who was also the natural son of Henry. All from the Preston area. Any information on any of these people would be most helpful to me. Any information also on Thomas' son Thomas c1839, born after he died who married Hannah Bamber in 1860 and from all accounts and purposes died 1868-1871 but no proof can be found. Many thanks. Hi. Thank you all for the information which you gave me on Thomas Melling (c1817). I have done extensive research into this family but can get no positive proof I am on the right track. I am sure Thomas Melling (c1839) is my gt gt grandad and 95% sure going back Thomas (c1817) and Nancy (Ann) are his parents, only because on his marr. cert his father is deceased. I have a copy of Thomas and Nancys marriage cert which gives his father as Henry Melling Fisherman and the only one I can come up with is the one with Jane Ward. I am tempted to believe the marr of Henry Melling and Jane Whittle is one and the same just misspelt. I have searched the BMDs, LDS and OPC Sites which is where most of the info. came from. As Thomas Snr died before the census' started it is very difficult to trace him. I also have a copy of his death cert registered by Nancy and cause of death is "decline", which helped me a lot!!! Thank you all once ag, I really wish I could find someone with this family in their tree. |
