Reggie and Susan = many thanks, I already knew by reasearch here today about my greeat grandparents. Georgina Grace was my father's mother who I knew and Walter Edward was the grandfather who was dead before I met him. My father's family lived in Clapham for at least 3 generations and I also knew that lots of Hickfords come from Suffolk. You also located my grandmtoher Wickham side of the family who I knew nothing about. Thanks for making my reasearch leap a hundred paces very quickly. My fatther ran a posh grocery shop and it looks like it was in his side of the family for a time. Walter Edward was a fireman on trains and Nan's family .....looks like her father also work on the steam trains ....perhaps that's how they met.

My father was born Alfred Herbert Hickford and born in Clapham South London. His father was Walter Edward Hickford and about 3 generations seemed to live in Clapham. My grandmothers name was Grace Wickham before marriage and my father's siblings were called Grace and Joe. Does anyone know of them or does the family name ring a bell. Just started searching, but it is an unusal name as when both my parents were alive there were only 10 Hickfords in the London phone directory and I was immediately related to them as cousins and knew them.
