I think i'll have to concede that i've got the wrong certificate and that it is Joyce D born 1925 not 1923. There is a Bertie George on the 1911 census as someone has pointed out whose wife is not a Svall or Ivall but Redgarve. However i'm very grateful to all of you who have taken the time to help. Thank you. |

Also she would not have to prove her name or her fathers name when she married...so she could have called herself Joyce Doreen instead of Joyce Lilian...I know my grandmother had different middle names on her marriage cert to that on her birth cert |

I'm only a standard member on here so unable to look at transcript. I've looked on Ancestry and it's definitely a D. I sent off for the Joyce D but got back Joyce Lilian Don't think there was any other certificate for an option. Thanks for your help. |

I did find the above marriage but what i can't seem to work out is why the certificate i sent for came back with Joyce Lilian not Joyce D Gray and also the father is different. Yet the only Joyce i can find mother Ivall or Svall is Joyce D Gray . Hope this makes sense. |

I have a marriage certificate of an Aunt, Joyce Doreen Mahoney, maiden name Gray.Age when married in 1948 25. The certificate say's her father was Bertie George Gray, desceased. Finding a Joyce D Gray for 1923 reg district West Ham . Mother's maiden name Svall, i sent for a certificate. I got back the following details. Joyce Lilian Gray father Henry William Gray maiden name of mother what looks like Svall . I couldn't find a marriage for a Margaret Annie Svall and Henry William Gray. But did find one for Ivall. I also looked for a marriage between Bertie George Gray and a Svall or Ivall but could find none. As afar as i can see there isn't a Joyce Lilian Gray with a mother's maiden name as Svall or Ivall. It all a bit complicated but if anyone can throw some light on this, i'd really appreciate it. |
