My Great great grandmother Mrs Mary McReynolds was born in Ireland in 1783 according to 1861 UK census in Preston Lancs UK. Her daughter was Jane McReynolds b Ireland 1814 ( 1861 Preston census ) married to John Mullen
Any help in tracing their birthplaces in Ireland please ?

Yes it only says born in Ireland on the 1851 / 1861 censuses ( C ) both in Preston.
The 1861 C Preston one you have copied is the correct one.
The 1851 C Preston shows Jane Mullen aged 37 b 1814 Ireland. married to John Mullen b Woolwich Kent ( same as on '61 C . By 1871 C He has married Sarah ( b Preston 1832 ) as his wife Jane has died .
Jane's mother Mary ( surname given as McKandale ) was born in 1783 in Ireland.
Yes I have seen the tree where someone gives alternative spellings of surname of McReynolds .
Some where recently I have seen a tree saying one of my relatives was born in , I think, CLOGHER, IRELAND possibly . Mary or Jane.

Do you know how I could check this ?

try to order a birth certificate for a rellie that is said born ireland BUT it may be difficult as its all a bit unsure

Or a marriage cert as this may give you a closer town than IRELAND!

Thanks, I have been on Ancestry site since contacting you and found at least 2 people researching the Mullens / Mc Reynolds with great info :
Jane McReynolds ( 1814 - 1861 ) parents were John Reynolds ( c1780 ) and Mary Devlin ( 1783 Ireland - 7/2/1869 Preston UK ) Married 5 May 1814 CLONOE TYRONE IRELAND.
You 1851 census in Liverpool is the right Mary too, thanks.
Now to see if I can get more info re Clonoe & marriage ??
