Not sure if anyone can help, but I'm looking at Prangles in my family tree and getting numerous brick walls.
I'm trying to track a George Prangle, I know I have the right one in the 1911 and 1901. In 1901 he is living with his family, (wife Ellen, children Albert, Edward, Frederick, Helena and Margaret) at Westley, Sharsholt, Wincester. He was born apx. 1856 Stockbridge, Hampshire.
I can't find any birth records for him, the closest are two Prangnell's born in 1858 in Romsey.
He's not in the 1891 census, but his wife and children are, living with Ellen's father.
I've found a George Prangel in the 1881 census, but he's living as a lodger so no clues to his family, but birth place is also Stockbridge. The alternative is a George Prangle born in East Wellow.
After this is just spreads into various versions of Prangle and it's difficult to work out where my line goes...any clues?

I would get the marriage cert for George and Ellen, that will at least give you a name for his father to work from when trying to locate him in earlier census/find his birth/baptism.

Thanks All,
Yes, Chris Ho, that's the ones I'm looking for. I can't find George anywhere in the 1891 census and then that's when it starts to get confusing.
In 1881 there are two options, either George Prangle b.1859 East Wellow or, George Prangel b.1859, Stockbridge.
I've been assuming its the latter, despite the change in spelling, since its the same place of birth, but with no family members to follow up, its pretty much a dead end there. The first George is living with parents John & Ann.
In 1871 there is just one option when you search for name variations of Prangle and that's a George Prangnell, born 1858, Michelmersh Romsey and his parents are called Noah & Caroline.
The only option in 1861 is the one above (thank you Gins) but in every census is a different family, and each family only seems to appear once. I've tried following each family back up through the years to double check and cross reference but to no avail.
Getting the marriage certificate is probably the next step, but have been trying to avoid spending too much getting copies of certificates etc.
Any advice welcome!

In 1901 the East Wellow George also shows, in Sparshot, but married to Eliza. So 2 separate people still.

I don't know your area of the country, but East Wellow sounded familiar - could this be Wellow, Shalfleet, Isle of Wight? There were a lot of Prangnells on the Island and the Isle of Wight Family History Society has a BMD index which is accessible without joining. I came upon Richard Prangnell, born Godshill around 1695 when searching for my antecedant William Cooper. Thre was also a Charles Prangnell of Arreton (wife Mary Mackett) who died in 1788; they both had children. But it wasn't my william Cooper! Margot

I did reply on the other posting you made on the other thread, suggesting you look at the "Kingsclere Famillies" site (google) did you see it ?
The George Prangle on there born 1855 Littleton is the son of Henry Prangle and Ellen Chapman and the family goes back to the early 1800s

Was he a soldier? Look at this
He had become a prisoner and is listed as a UK casualty of the Boer War
Name: G Prangle Casualty Type: Prisoner Casualty Date: 29 Dec 1900 Casualty Place: Helvetia Rank: Gunner Force South Africa Field Force Regiment: Royal Garrison Artillery Battalion: 6th Company Number: 70261 Remarks: Released
He would be rather old for a gunner though
