Deborah, I'm not sure what you mean by the "trail has gone cold" as he's very well documented.

How did you come to be researching him?

MarieCeleste

MarieCeleste Report 16 May 2013 20:23

He obviously returned safe and well:

England & Wales, National Probate Calendar (Index of Wills and Administrations), 1858-1966
Name: Samuel Gurney Leatham
Probate Date: 8 Jan 1920
Death Date: 7 Sep 1919
Death Place: Yorkshire, England
Registry: London, England

Lived Hemsworth Hall, Hemsworth. Probate granted to Eustace La Trobe Leatham, captain RN; Godfrey Lipscombe Thomas Percy Tew; Granville Robert Croft.
Effects £265,197 12s 4d

(That would be about £11.5m in today's money)

Welcome to the boards, Deborah.

Could you explain how you got to Samuel, as you must have some information about him to be researching him?

Thank-you
