I am having problems finding any records on the Channel Islands. In particular Jersey. Can anybody help me with how I go about finding there records eg : census, births. My husbands second great grandmother came from there. They have the name Aubert.

Census are available on Ancestry and Findmypast for 1841 to 1911

Just hope that a member called Jersey Lily (?) spots this thread as she sometimes does lookups up for members as I believe the Jersey BMD's are not online

Aubert is a common name, if you post the details I'll see what I can find. As GB says census records are on-line but not BMD information.

The details of the Aubert family I am looking for are, Parents Jean b 1798 and Catherine b 1793 possible maiden name Esnouf, Jeanne b 1824 (gg grandmother), Jean b 1828, David b 1830, Mary Ann b 1833, Charles and Emelie Francoise b 1838,

Jeanne Aubert was baptized in St John's parish church 3/11/1824. Her parents were Jean Aubert and Catherine Rémon.

Jean and Catherine married 5/8/1824 in St John's parish church

Jean was baptized 21/4/1798, his parents were Jean Aubert and Elizabeth Pinel
Catherine was baptized 24/7/1798, her parents were Josué Rémon and Suzanne Esnouf'

Jean and Elizabeth married 20/1/1791 in St John
Josué and Suzanne married 15/6/1796 in St Peter

Back at that time Jersey followed the French way and widowed ladies were known by their maiden names, hence Suzanne Esnouf rather than Rémon.
