Hi all.. Richard Cowan & Mary Jackson, married on the 18th of Dec 1820, at St.Peter's Liverpool.
Marriage record states Richard was a shipwright & the couple are thought to be the parents of John Cowen ( sic) born c.1821 Birkenhead / Chester who married Mary harrison in 1840 ( migrated to Australia in 1857).
Looking for any further detail re Richard & Mary, their parents, sibs or children

I'm guessing you found the marriage on LancsOPC............have you tried looking for children on the same site?

Does the 1840 marriage cert name the groom's father as Richard?

The 1840 marriage was in Liverpool, but does not appear on LancsOPC

Does John's marriage cert say his father Richard was a shipwright ?

Lots of trees on Ancestry have John and Mary's family, but none list his parents.

Richard Cowan and Mary Jackson's marriage entry also says Richard is a Shipwright of this Parish.

Indeed, the assumed son, 1822 John, his marriage extract gives no mother but father as Richard, a Shipwright so that is in accord with Richard Cowan & Mary Jacksons marriage detail as located by Susan. I'll "chase" those other children, Margaret & William, also the poss. baptism of Richard in 1798.. Thanks all .. plenty of leads there for me & greatly appreciated.
