I would really appreciate help from anyone in the Mansfield Woodhouse, Nottinghampshire area who can take a photo of a headstone and an inscription above the Tower door of the St. Edmunds King and Martyr Church. The headstone is of John Oakes which I was told is in the Welbeck Cemetary and is located on the left hand side of the footpath about ¾ of the way up. |

An update with more info on Philip Oakes. He owned the Parliament Oak which still exists today in Mansfield Woodhouse. i was told since he was an important person in the community that he may be buried in the churchyard of St. Edwards King and Martyr Church. But my research shows that burials at the time of his death were in the Welbeck Rd cemetery. |
