I'm looking for 2 marriages in Bury and suspect that they are Catholic marriages. The marriages are on the Lancashire BMD .One is for Michael Coleman to Mary Moran in 1862 and the other is James Moran to Mary Doherty in 1872.I think that the 2 Morans are brother and sister but dont want to purchase certificates in case I am incorrect. Is there anywhere online that there are copies of the Catholic marriages?I have tried various Record offices but have no joy with them.Is there anyone who does lookups for Bury? |

They could also be non-conformist, or indeed, register office marriages |

Yes have tried the census's,by 1879 James Morans children were in the workhouse, father James Moran alive ,mother dead.Michael Coleman died in Bury in 1870 ,his wife Mary got one of the children out of the workhouse in 1888.Without James Morans year of birth I find myself guessing in the search forhim in 1881. |

Looks like it couldbe incorrect.James Moran in my tree had Matthew Moran 1872,Michael 1874 and Mary 1873 .By 1881 the 3 children were in the Worsley Industrial school.stating father James Moran and mother dead. They were let out between 1885 and 1888,Matthew to John Seddon in Blackrod,Mary into service with a Mr Kershaw and Michael to his aunt Mary Coleman. There is a possible James Moran in Prescot in 1881 age 31 widower boarder farm labourer born Dublin. |

http://www.lan-opc.org.uk/Bury/index.html has a "Look Ups" link in left margin - click on it, and at foot of page, there's a contact link to an OPC guy who'll do RC look ups for 3 RC churches, incl St Joseph & St Marie, the 2 RC churches in Bury itself - I don't know how may RC churches there are in the rego district, nor where their records are kept, but this OPC would be one guy to ask. |

Well, it works for me - either the message is right, and it's not installed properly on your PC, or there's some sort of compatibility problem. |
