Australia - Charles Henry Anderson

He was born in Hartlepool in 1890, emigrated to Australia in about 1912/13, married in Sydney in 1915 to Edith Sarah Hunter and they had 2 children - Maureen Essie and Fred born 1916 and 1918 respectively. They lived in the Bondi area and he was a merchant seaman. I have a death for Edith in 1962 but I can't find one for Charles, or details of his family after that. Is anyone researching the same family?

Edith Sarah Anderson is on the ER 1930 to 1937 at Lamrock Avenue, Bondi North, Wentworth and works as a secretary. She's at 54 Campbell Parade 1949 & 1957.

No mention of Charles Henry on any of the records.

Thank you for replying so quickly. I did have Maureen Essie's marriage in 1941 but the electoral roles have given some useful information. Due to the 100 year rule, I don't know if she had any children. Edith Sarah died in 1962 at 166 Baroom Avenue, Darlinghurst aged 70 - suicide apparently - I have her death certificate. She is described as a widow so Charles would have died prior to this. Thanks again for your help.

Romaine, I'm sure there is more info that could be found but there are two things to do:

1 - if you go to the top of the thread there's a button "mark this as unanswered", click that. By ticking Cynthia's post above it's marked the whole thread as answered so people will think you don't need any further help.

2 - if you click "edit" just above your first post you can get back to your heading to add the word Australia. That way the Australian researchers are more likely to spot it. Some of them have access to records other than those who are just using worldwide subs to other sites.

Thanks Marie, I have taken your advice and corrected the two issues.

Because Edith Sarah appears to be on her own from 1930 could Charles Henry have died before that?

Hi,
I don't think so because from some family hearsay/letters I think he visited his brother who was living in Argentina in the 1940s or '50s. Charles was at sea a lot as a merchant seaman but they might have separated or divorced. I have ordered Maureen's marriage certificate to see if he is mentioned on that as father/witness. Thank you for your help.
