Trying to find any info on William and Mary Lindsay nee Simpson of possibly Tyrone Ireland. I do have a possible death of 1826 for William.
They are the parents of George Lindsay born 1802 in Tyrone , married 1826 in Fintona, Tyrone to Jane McCauley then this couple moved to Australia in 1841,along with their children.
Any help will be greatfully received.
Thank You.
Glenda.

I come down a line of Lindsay’s and I've traced them back as far as 1746 with my 4 x great grandfather, William Lindsay born in Armagh, Ireland in 1746. Evidently he must have moved to Fintona, Tyrone which is where all of his children were born. He married Mary Simpson in 1773 and my 3 x great grandfather George Frances Lindsay was born in 1802 or 1805 (the only issue I have with this is that William and Mary were in their late 50’s when George was born – that would have been most unusual in those days as it is today).

I'd always had a feeling that I was related to the very well known Australian artist Norman Lindsay (other siblings of Norman were also artists and writers) and apparently Norman’s forebears were also from Tyrone, Ireland but they went there in the late 17th century. So that pre-dates my ancestor by maybe 50 years who was born in Armagh.

Apparently Armagh and Tyrone border each other.

There's no family tree on ancestry.com that shows any link between my Lindsays and the ancestors of Norman Lindsay, so if anyone can confirm a link that would be great.

Thank you Ann for your help. I do not belong to Ancestry but had a free trial a couple of years ago and posted the bit about George and John Lindsay , also was able to post a new post with my phone no and was contacted by SWilson. Unfortunately he didn't know where he got his birth and marriage dates from so he cannot confirm them.
So I am looking for someone else with the same info or idealy where the info was obtained.
Glenda.

Thank you
