Thank you all very my much all ghis information is my family . I can confirm George Edward miles had brother Stanley Herbert miles sister lily may miles and Rosina Edith who was born and died in 1904. Lily had five children John Stanley, marciA Christine , jocelyn rosemary , Maureen and Claire. I have no info or dates for Claire but have all siblings of the other four . I have worked back to Joseph miles 1763 and Ann love 1767.

Just had PM back from Nikki, so I've explained how to get back to the thread as I think she's struggling to navigate the site.

It was Lily May that made me think we had the correct one that did it :-D

looks like Christina's 1898 marriage could be the one ;-)

1911 census stated 1 child had died. 2 living, so I assume the death Rosina.

However, without Georges marriage certificate we have no way of knowing if this is the correct family.

It does look promising though, the birth was registered in Q4/1913, so would be 37 in 1951.

Just in case it is the family - they were living 45 Albany Road from the 1911 census to their deaths, and Herbert was a master bread baker. They had another child apart from Lily, Stanley who was 9.

As Shirley mentioned above, his marriage cert will give you his father's name and you will need that to be sure.


There are probate records for Henry Charles Miles in 1947 and Edith Shutt Miles in 1948. Will someone please have a look to see if either mentions George E Miles?

Do you know if he was drafted during the war, as there is a gap between Geraldine 1939 and the child who died (Susan A) her birth & death were registered in the June quarter of 1945.
