Thank you Mel Fairy Godmother for your offer. Yes PigletsPal you are right I saw the probate record on Ancestry.
But after speaking to the helpful lady at local probate office, it is most likely grandmother did not leave a will. And what i will get is a copy of the letter of administration that was issued in London 10 years after her death.
The fee is £6.00 like you said.
It will be worth it to knock a brick off the wall I have been banging my head against.

Mel - I think from posters thread she has seen the probate record and now wants to purchase a copy of the will.

Eileen - you can send of to any Probate Office for a copy of a will, I always send my requests to York, even though I live in London. Found that ordering via London seemed to take a lot longer than York. Also should only have to pay £6.00 for a copy of the will.

Cheers PP

If her probate is on Ancestry then I can look it up for you if you wish if you give us her name and place of death.

Yes, you should be able to get a copy of the will. You will need to apply to the Probate Registry Office, nearest to where your grandmother died.
