From the new thread (best continue on here)
"I am trying to find my cousin Maureen Simonsen, born c 1934 in New York. Her parents names were Margaret Henry married to Edward R Simonsen. In 1940 her age was given as 6 years old. They lived in New Jersey. I believed Maureen married and has a family. That is all I know about her. My Aunt died in 1978 (thanks to genes reunited for the info)"
(Actually, the info was from another site! ;-) )

Jeanette, I posted a 1955 City Directory entry on page 1 where Maureen was a student - the situation was the same in 1957, this is a later one still:
U.S. City Directories, 1821-1989 (Beta)
Name: Maureen Simonsen Residence Year: 1959 Residence Place: Montclair; Caldwell; Essex Fells; Verona; Cedar Grove; Glen Ridge, New Jersey Occupation: Married Publication Title: Montclair, New Jersey, City Directory, 1959
What it actually says on the image is that 97 South Prospect V is the address of Edward R Simonsen (working as a service manager at 654 Bloomfield Ave) and wife Margaret. Underneath it has "Maureen married John F Murray jnr rem to Bloomfield"
So, that implies that Maureen married between 1957 and 1959. That's probably too recent to find details of an actual marriage or subsequent records.

Hi Jeanette - please don't start a new thread - as it's the same family we should continue on here ....
That means we have the background info to refer to and don't duplicate research. :-)
EDIT: From pm
"I am trying to find my cousin Maureen Simonsen born c1934 in New York Her parents were Margaret Henry married to Edward R Simonsen. According to 1940 census she was 6 years old. Regards Jeanette"

To Anne Thank you for the information. This is without doubt my Aunt Margaret. I have been trying for a very long time to find her. I now hope to trace her daughter Maureen or her family. I have no idea who she married or where she lives but would be grateful for any information. Regards Jeanette

Following Anne's shipping find above, I found another record of Margaret on Alien arrivals detained. She was held until her aunt Delia Finnegan of what looks like 30 Schoffer Street arrived for her (she was only held 40 minutes).

Morpeth covers Bedlington:

I'm not finding anything likely in the US 1940 that resembles what Jeanette gives as a surname.
Working through the shipping lists, there was one with father Michael (wrong name) that I'd come across previously so definitely didn't imagine a previous thread.
