Thank you both - you're absoplute gems. I would never have thought of that surname - the enumerator's writing must have been awful for the transcriber to make barhill out of bushell. Thanks a lot. |

I am trying to find Nathan Bushell on the 1861 census. He was born 1835/6 Scarisbrick, Lancashire living Liverpool in 1851 with parents - then aged 15. I have him in 1871 living Jarrow, Co. Durham with wife Margaret and children. Margaret (Porter) and Nathan married in 1855 in Liverpool. It may well be that his name has been mistranscribed but I cannot think what alternative to Bushell would have been used maybe. Would someone be kind enough to have a quick look and see if they have better luck than me. Thanks. |
