i was thinking that might be wrong, but his wife was still alive when he died she's named on the cert, so thought cant get the name wrong, unless his fathers middle name was james and thats what he was known as. I will have to buy the marriage cert.

How do you know he married Sarah J Quinn other than the 1891 census

Have you bought his marriage cert to confirm his father's name? The info on the death cert would only be what the informant knew or thought they knew.

Yeah have tried the scotlands records marie, thats how i found the record about his death, but i cant find anything on his parents, james or ann.

Did he die before the 1901 census or after ?

I was wondering if anyone could help me please trying to find more information on James brown born 1854 died 1901 in govan scotland, Married Sarah jane Quinn.

I found records on his death, he died in 1901 in a factory in scotland, and it says that his father was called James brown & his mother was Ann brown maiden name steel.
But i can not find any marriage records for a james or ann nor on any census records, but i can find records for a william brown & ann steel getting married, and records for them names on census.

He is from england, for some reason him and his wife sarah moved to scotland. But trying to find out about his parents.
