I am trying to trace my GGrandfather after he left Workington C 1906-1911

His name was Joseph Bell.

He was born on 27/11/1870 in Riccarton, Ayr

His father was John Bell, his mother Margaret Boyd.

His father moved the family to Workington, Cumberland between the years 1871 to 1881

He married Selina Watson and had 4 children

He left his wife Selina, before 1911 and it is thought he may have gone to the North East.

His occupation was given as Sailor (deceased) on daughter’s marriage certificate in 1923.

My older family members thought he remarried and had several daughters.

Thanks Pam - I have looked at that death but it was not him

In Workington he was a steel worker

On his daughter's marriage certificate he was a sailor deceased.

The family told me he moved away when his marriage broke up

There are four RN deaths 1915-1918

Crew list
BELL J 1900 1874 Workington Cumberland (1month Nov-Dec) 3rd mate
BELL J 1901 1874 Workington Cumberland (1month Dec) 2nd mate
Birth date calculated - 1874
Possible that he worked in the steel mill in between sailing jobs.

Not seeing anything after this.
