Hi Kazzie

It would be helpful to know who she married and when - to help find her in later cencus years and trace her back. Do you have an occupation for her father?

Thanks Kay

She married Thomas Highfield in 1855 have the marriage certificate which states her father as Thomas

Her father was what looks like a Roller

So for reference this is her in 1861 - although later years do list her birth as South Wales or Cardiff as well. Have to go to work know but will check back later - Does the marriage cert list her father's job or any Jones witnesses? Edit - sorry we crossed!

I think it is at the wrong end of the country to be correct Kazzie. If she gives her birth place as Cardiff then the chances are they lived in Monmouthshire and not Glamorgan.

Kazzie Report 20 Mar 2013 07:09

The witnesses at her wedding were Joseph and Sarah Wright Thomas Highfield was also a Roller so may have worked for or with Thomas Jones

Just for interest, re rollers (from RootsChat):

"Topic: Occupations in Iron & Alkali works - Pudlers, Shinglers, Rollers, Furnacemen

Pudlers are men employed in the first process of making Iron, they bind boys to themselves.
Labourers in the Iron works have no regular occupation.
In the alkali works are the same -
Shinglers are employed at large hammers in beating iron
Furnacemen are employed in heating iron
Rollers are men employed in rolling iron for different purposes such as rails etc for rail ways
