Thanks Cherilyn

There was a few gems there that I was not sure of.

Charles and Annie had 10 children.
The 9th you have as Harry James B: 1900 Flemington

The 10th is Melbourne Sydney Smith bn: 1902 Flemington
And today I found out he died in Queensland 1983
He married Alice Margaret O'Brien in 1929 Vic. She was bn: 1901 Merino and d: 1963 Malvern.
Now I do believe there is another partner or wife - which I have yet to find.
So I am trying to find where he was buried in Queensland?

The other boy I am finding now lots on is William Hingston/Kingston Smith
First this Kingston name is really Hingston even though all the records here in Australia say Kingston. Hingston comes from his mothers maternal side.

He married Barbara Black in 1884 and had 2 children Wiulliam David Smith 1885-1955 and Adeline Barbara Cuming Smith 1887-1970

And her is where the spice come alive - the daughters marriage to Cecil Harcourt Fallick. Well he married and then joined the Army only to be dishonourably discharged weeks later, So he changed his name and rejoined and then served in Egypt. Anyway there are over 300 pages of data available of this man and all on line.

Very interesting reading

Thanks again for your help

Chas O died on 27th March 1928 in Hawthorn aged 71, son of Octavius SMITH and Adelaide Elizabeth Kate CUMMING (reg 1882). He had a sister named Alice Ann [did not marry] and a brother named Wm Kingston.

Kevin.... the 'QLD State Library' also offers an 'Ask a Librarian' service ...they will check elelctoral rolls and newspaper death notices.

(failing that ..ask the 'National Library of Aus' (Canberra) ....it covers ALL States). (excellent service offered for those who do not live nearbye).

Hi Valerie

Thank you for you advice - I will ask more when I get to Melbourne maybe this week. A bit tied up so far with too many things to do.

I do wonder if Melbourne Sydney was called Mel and maybe searches have to be cut down to that. Too many Smith's articles to search quickly when some differences arise.

I don't think Sydney Melbourne Keith Smith is related but you never know - maybe you have more on that.

But then his brother Harry James had a son called Keith James Smith 1925-1932.
So that Keith is an interesting possible connection - long shot

I'll see if the library can get access to Queensland data that may show death records etc in newspapers or somewhere else.
So much data coming on line now is just great - can't keep up.

Thanks again

Kev

Kevin ... the 'National Archives of Aus' shows:

Sydney Melbourne Keith Smith' b 26.4.1924 Gawler S Aus enlisted in Adelaide ...n o k George.
Worth knowing about this man ..... the Librarians may find/trace him ....instead of your man.

Kevin... the 'VIC State Library' (on-line) has an 'Ask a Librarian' service .....they will check electoral rolls -(past & present)... also check newspaper death notices ....they should be able to trace him.
(all State Libraries offer same service)

Found this reference to him in the Melbourne Argus of 17th February 1947.

GENERAL SESSIONS Before Judge Moore In the Second Civil Court At 10 30 Bernard Aloysius Cahill, Melbourne Sydney Smith

Unfortunately, there's no further information as to what he was up before the judge for.
At least it places him in Melbourne in 1947.

I am trying to find out more on "Melbourne Sydney Smith" who was born 1902 at Flemington Victoria Australia. He married Alice Margaret O'Brien in 1929 in Victoria. Margaret was born 1901 in Merino Vic. and she died 1963 at Malvern Victoria.
Now the story goes that he ran off to Queensland with the secretary but my guess is that when Alice died he may have later retired and moved to Queensland with a partner who may have been his secretary (families love to spice stories up).
Anyway he should have died by now and I would love to know when and where buried and maybe who with. And if this second woman became his second wife.
So if you are able to help with even a location or death date that would be great.
I have no idea if he had a family even to Alice Margaret and if so how many children.
