Thank you Jonesey and safc Oh dear! I seem to have set an unfortunate puzzle! My thinking they might be tha same family now looks very unlikely! There is another way of approaching it, if anybody can see the marriage:
Marriages Dec 1876 CLAPHAM Jeremiah Bradford, Y. 9b 121
Brooksbank Mary Bradford Y. 9b 121
with the bride's father listed?
From the 1911 census Mary is born 1851 and in 1881 (after marriage, so I have the right one, she gives Denholme as her place of birth - I do just love it when they keep changing their birth place!)

I have been sleuthing in the GR single line census again and hope I have found my Brooksbank family except there are too many potential parents to choose from! My starting point is :-
Marriages Dec 1876 CLAPHAM Jeremiah Bradford, Y. 9b 121
Brooksbank Mary Bradford Y. 9b 121
Births Mar 1851 Brooksbank Mary Bradford Y. 23 274
1861 Brooksbank Martin 1847 Thornton Bradford, Thornton Brooksbank Mary 1851 Thornton Bradford, Thornton Brooksbank Sarah Ann Fosted 1853 Thornton Bradford, Thornton Brooksbank Hannah 1856 Thornton Bradford, Thornton Brooksbank Colonel 1858 Thornton Bradford, Thornton Brooksbank Berino 1860 Thornton Bradford, Thornton
I think Sarah Ann Fosted 1853 should probably be William 1854 (if my memory is correct) Can anybody see the family in the 1861 census please?
Many thanks, Frances
