If you get a copy of the marriage certificate, that would give you his father's name. |

If you can get hold of the PR entry, the witnesses might be relatives. |

Where did you get the date and place of the marriage from? I have looked at the images for Manchester Cathedral marriages and there were no marriages registered on the 28/1/1817 |

Blast! I looked at all the images for January 1817, as the OP! |

The marriage is on the Manchester Cathedral images for 20th November 1817; both of the parish; Thomas shown as Cordwainer; witnessess Thomas Lincap and John Beard (who has witnessed several other marriages) |

Doesn't come up in searches as Thomas is mistranscribed as Euans! A correction was done on 7th March 2013 - obviously not been added to searches yet. |

Thanks everyone - My neice who lives in Manchester reviewed all the records. My brother and I double checked them. There were two marriages listed between a Thomas Evans and Sarah Anderson for 1817 - but on two different dates and were obviously two different couples. ONE SHOWN OCCUPATION AS A JOINER THE OTHER AS A CORDWAINER. The former fits with what we know of the family and their children fit exactly into what we know of them and later census material and other family information One couple shown as born in county the other not. What we are looking for is the parent[s] of Thomas and Sarah Evans.??? ONCE AGAIN MANY THANKS.. |

This looks like the family in 1851, giving Sarah's POB as Ruthin. Elsie, who were the witnesses to the marriage? |
