I'm trying to find any Merchant Navy/Navy records relating to my late father Dennis Arthur Maine 12/10/1923 - 10/10/2008. He was born in Axbridge Somerset. I know he was in the arctic convoy but not what ship he was on. I know that he was a survivor from the SS California that was sunk in July 1943. I believe when his parents died, his aunts sent him to Dartmouth Naval College. Any help would be most appreciated. Thank you. Dee. |

Merchant Seaman records 1918 to 1941 are on Findmypast. Making a free search with surname Maine and yob 1923 +/- 1, the only results are 3 with the initial A, one James George, and one initial R. |
