I cannot seem to make any headway with these members of the family. Parents were John and Catherine (nee Neale) Driscoll living in Hanover St (1871) Princes St (1881) and Elephant Lane (1891) and 1901. Another daughter, Mary, married John McCarthy and is her family is living with the parents in 1901 I have a birth cert for Bridget born 9 Jan 1871 Laura (Nora) was born in 1873 and Margaret in 1879.
Any assistance in finding what became of them would be appreciated.

Thank you MarieCeleste and BarbarafromYorkshire - I had not come across the Maybank wedding. I shall investigate. I did have the Phipps record saved but cannot find them after that so have not been able to advance this. I shall apply for the certs.
Most appreciated! :-)

I was hoping to get some clues as to where the Maybank children were in 1911 census--but not having much luck
This seems to be the marriage for Emily Maybank ,who was a 20 year visitor on 1901

Thank you - I am wondering if Richard left as well. Curiosity.....I am delighted to have that wedding of Bridget. She is living next to two of her sisters, Kate Henley and Mary McCarthy in the 1901 census - so that really just has to be her. But, where did that marriage come from??? I cannot find it through Ancestry, and I know that there are other church records that I didn't think were on line. Mary married John McCarthy - and although I know there are records - I cannot locate them. I am trying to find out more about my G Grandmother, their sister, Annie or Anna, Hannah. I have her baptism of 1868, Rotherhithe. I am wondering if there are also any records from her where ever you got that wedding? She must have had a life before the 1901 and 1911 census's where she is living (as a 'housekeeeper') with William Hollingsworth in Trident and Maynard Sts. Anything you are able to add to her? Thank you so much for solving the Bridget mystery! :-)

You are welcome, but the mystery isn't solved until the cert proves she is the right Bridget --I hope she is though.
I am not finding anything else for Ann / Annie / Anne --but will take another look tomorrow ( well later today)
I found the marriage for Bridget on
http://www.freebmd.org.uk
then i went looking on census to see which of the 2 males on the index she had married.
I will take another look for Richard later on too. he and the children can't just have vanished can they
I can't see them going abroad, nor on the Irish or Welsh census ---I am wondering about 1911 Scotland cesus !!

This is definitely the correct Bridget - I have the marriage cert ....and also her death certificate in 1910 of TB. Marriage cert has her living at 1 Clarks Orchard - and this is the correct family. Witnesses were Thomas Brown and Eliza Taylor. Church is 'The Most Holy Trinity' of St Olaves.
Also have her father's death cert from 1901 witness is daughter Mary (says Carter, but is McCarthy). Correct address of 8 Elephant place for the precious census.
Nice when all the results check out correctly.
Still struggling with Margaret and Laura. Also keen to find Annie in years between 1881 and 1901.
Thanks so much for that Maybank hint - perfect. :-)

Oh darn, another one bites the dust then. I shall get the certs to prove. This family of mine seemed stricken. That I think makes it 7 out of 10 children deceased before their parents. Parents John and Catherine died 1901 and 1902 and I have their certs.
So, Margaret is still missing. I am playing with the possibility she might be one of the children of the girls. I see a free BDM record of a Margaret Ellen Driscoll about that time and wonder if I should apply for it.
Annie, baptised as Ann, but often called Anna or even Hannah is my main mystery for the time period of 1881 and 1901 where she turns up as a 'Housekeeper' with William Aaron Hollingsworth. I also do not think she registered the birth of Edward Walter Driscoll/Hollingsworth in 1906, birth date given of Feb 4th. and yet her eldest is recorded as Illegitimate and born in Horsleydown in 1902, 3rd Dec. I have all the baptisms of her children, sometimes with William Aaron recorded as a Driscoll but often only Hannah or Annie. She is a mystery before this time. She ended up on her own raising her children as a 'Convenience operator', my grandfather became a share broker, so she must have done a good job considering the difficulties. I would dearly like to find out her history. I think it is a miracle someone from this family survived the poverty and disease of the slums of the East End, particularly with TB ravaging the family.
Thank you so much choccy. I shall get the certs to prove the above - but looks like it is correct. Sad though.

Found another birth! Catherine Annie Driscoll b 1886 died 11 weeks later. Annie Driscoll, factory worker of Deptford is the mother on the Cert. Confirms her address with the Rotherhithe family, 3 Princess St.
Baptism names the father as Edward Collier. I am wondering if Annie named her Son, born about 20 years later as Edward Walter Driscoll, because of Edward Collier who I suspect died young?
Appreciate any input. Also, are there any more children born to Annie Driscoll apart from Maggie, Hannah, Edward, and Lillie? I had heard there was a George, and now we have Catherine Annie. Annie Driscoll was living in Deptform between the census of 1881 and when she turns up again in Rotherhithe with William Aaron Hollingworth.
