Thank you very much MarieCeleste for all that information you found, you have filled in a lot of blanks on my tree, it was always a mystery what happened to that family. |

Nellie Barker and Peter Gordon Roe were from Lambeth or Croydon, England. I think she was a housekeeper. He was a Private in the Royal Marines and served in WW1 (we have his medal). Eldest son Peter was born in Croydon (?). They then moved to Peterhead, Scotland where my Grandfather, William Arthur Roe, was born 1st May 1918. They moved to Cottesloe, Western Australia, in 1923, where youngest son, Frank, was born. Peter Gordon Roe became a painter. At the outbreak of WW2, Peter joined the Army, William the Navy, and Frank the Air Force. Peter stayed in Western Australia. Frank settled in Port Augusta, or the Adelaide region, where I think Nellie ended up eventually. William settled in Sydney. All sons died aged 60-61. William passed 1979 aged 61. He was awarded the Distinguished Service Medal for the Korean War. Also, Peter Gordon and William were Freemasons (we have their documents and memorabilia) but I don't know if the other two sons were involved. <3 |
