Extra set of eyes needed

If anyone can spare some time I'd be really grateful. I'm pretty sure I have the birth, marriage record and death records for my maternal great grandfather but I'll be damned if I can find him on any census. I'm totally stumped and was wondering if anyone could lend a pair of eyes to double check I'm not going nuts.

John Joseph Prince
Born 1892 Kingston
Married Annie BUZZING (I know this one is completely accurate) 1919
Possible death record for 1941 Surrey North Eastern

I have searched through 1901 and 1911 census records but just can't find him. The closest I can find is a John Prince living in Kingston but the age is wrong and a John Prince in Derbyshire with the right year of birth but I'm sceptical as it doesn't seem viable that they would have built up a large farm with staff in such little time of moving there.

Any help would be much appreciated

What was his father's name?

Which site are you using?

ErikaH Report 13 Sep 2012 13:14

As you can't find him on a census, what makes you think he was born where and when you suggest?

GlitterBaby Report 13 Sep 2012 13:19

Have you also checked using Joseph rather than John

GlitterBaby

GlitterBaby Report 13 Sep 2012 13:22

If his father was John James - possible marriage in 1890 Kingston then probably on census using Joseph

Do you only have the BMD references for his possible birth, marriage and death but no certs ?

If his father was John James then he died in 1893

Who does he name on his marriage cert as his father ?

Witnesses ?

Clara-Jane Report 13 Sep 2012 13:33

I don't know his fathers name, I know he was born in Kingston as one section of my family has kept a family bible but as the princes married into that part John is as far back as it goes.
I have searched using Joseph but as far as I know he only went by John.

And Maddie... yes that does look like it could be him. I have medals which I are from the prince family but I'm not sure who. I wonder if they were his. Thank you v much.......... Although would you be in a welsh regiment if you were not welsh? Is this why I can't find them on the census perhaps if they moved to wales??

Do not go by which regiment someone served in. My grandfather born in London served in the Border Regiment.

Wondering if both parents were dead by 1901 as possible death for a Sarah Prince

Buy his marriage cert........for factual info about his age and his father

Thanks reggie but I'm not made of money haha. If I bought certs for ever single person on my tree the government would make an absolute mint! It might even pay off the national deficit :-D

Not finding a Wallace in 1911 to fit that address

Clara-Jane

Clara-Jane Report 13 Sep 2012 13:55

Me neither, the whole lot of them seem dodgy. I have found 2 Prince children in the workhouse school but no reference to any parents, I'm wondering if the parents died and a John fended for himself while his siblings ended up in the workhouse. I'm going to try and find there records and see what they say. I'm intrigued now
