Change to the last post on 30 March 2013. Annie Grace Browne is correct as is Daniel, apparently Daniel was killed by the Black and Tans in or around 1920. The last name, Kitty is actually Kathleen Mary Browne. Have checked the Censuses found and Annie Grace is not on them nore is Kathleen Mary but she maybe the one listed as Mary. |

Hiya, yes I can see the picture now, thank you once again for all your time and help it is much appreciated. Now you have found all this info is there anyway of trying to find when Catherine was born please? Of course we don't know where she was born, all we have to go on is the marriage certificate stating her father was Dan/Daniel Holloran/Halloran/Hallaran. It is difficult to read the writing sometimes too. It's so weird as grandma started out as Ellen, later she was Helena Ellen and she signed her marriage cert Lena Brown without the e on the end. Am sure they did this to confuse later generations but of course it doesn't help one bit when people are trying to research. |

Hi again, shall I PM to you Ellen's birth cert and Catherines marriage cert just so you can see, sometimes it helps if you have something in front of you. If you would like them I'll ping them through to you. I don't have Catherine's death cert scanned as yet but could do that also. |

Hiya, yes I see what you mean. If they married in 1879 then in 1901 they would have been married 22 years. I do appreciate your time and help but not sure, as before, this is the right family. In 1901 grandma, Ellen, would have been 20. |

Hi again, thank you for the new info. Same again with this one Kate would have been only 10 when she had grandma. As before, I know this is a difficult once I have searched time and time again and haven't come up with anything. I thought I might be able to find the birth of Catherine knowing her father was Dan/Daniel but have hit a brick wall. |

Hiya, thank you so much for that information. To be honest am not sure it is the right family as going by Catherines/Kates death age it does not tally and my grandmother, Ellen, was born in 1881 so I make that Catherine would have been about 10 when she had my grandmother. Sorry. |

Okay, thanks. I'll be back in about half an hour. It's just that I didn't want people to think I'd posted a thread and then not checked it for a while. |

Hi, its the pest back again with another query. I have my great grandparents, James Browne and Catherine Hollaran (although the spelling of her surname maybe a little different). They married on 28 Sept 1879 at the Roman Catholic Chapel of Aglish. James' father is given also as James Browne Policeman. Catherines' father is given as Dan Hollaran Labourer. James residence at the time of the marriage was Crossmahon, Kilmurry Parish. Catherines' as Aglish Parish. Witnesses were Jeremiah Murphy and Anne Moriarty. Catherines' name is given later on as Kate Browne. She died 2 January 1939 given as widow and aged 77. She died at what looks like 7 Cork Street, Macroom, writing not very legible. I guess given Catherines' age given at her death, 77 she was born about 1862. She is not buried with her husband and on the cert it say widow of Mason. I am stumped to find Catherines date of birth, also that of James as I haven't a clue when he was born or when. My grandmother Ellen, was born on 11 Dec 1881 in Ballymichael. Is there anyone that could please possibly find answers to any of the above queries. Not sure if there were any other siblings of Ellen's also. I have searched and searched again many times and nothing. Now is the time to ask for some help please. If anyone wants to see the marriage cert of James and Catherine and also her death cert I could certainly PM it across. I have a hunch, don't ask how that James' father the policeman was married to an Ellen Swiney, might be very wrong but that seems to tie in with James Jnr and Catherines' daughter being called Ellen. May be just pure speculation. |
